Abstract: Movement is increasingly considered to be a critical process in ecological dynamics to predict species adaptation under changing environments, but incorporating movement into ecological models in an efficient way remains an ongoing challenge due to the limitation of field data. Our goal in this talk is to present some of the recent progress in this direction, to describe the roles of intrinsic growth rate, carrying capacity, dispersal, and resource consumption in population dynamics in spatially as well as temporally heterogeneous environments.
