Abstract: In this talk, we introduce a unified convergence theory for general two-level iterative methods (i.e., the decomposition associated with two hierarchical spaces is not necessarily a direct sum). In the case of Galerkin coarse solver, we derive a succinct identity for the energy norm of the error propagation operator of two-level methods. In the non-Galerkin case, we establish some convergence estimates for two-level methods, in which both linear and nonlinear coarse solvers are considered.
